Ardis African Art

Fernando Luka was born in Kinshasa, D.R. of Congo, on 31 August 1967. He studied at "The Academy Of Fine Arts" in D.R. of Congo. The subjects he studies were aesthetics, sketch, history of arts, music, filmology, mathematics, physics, chemistry and practice. He finished his education with a diploma in arts. He is as well very talented in languages and speaks French, Portuguese, English, Lingala, Kongo, Swahili and other African languages. Personally Luka has a strong interest for films, music and all kinds of culture. Very important to him are his friends and his social contacts. His favorite sport is soccer, but he also likes karate.

Luka has illustrated children's books like the illustration of „Children Book In The Village" in 1989 at the „Centre Wallonie Bruxelles" at the Belgium embassy in Kinshasa. He exhibited around Africa, as for example at the „Academy Of Fine Arts" in Kinshasa in 1990 or at the "French Cultural Center" in Luanda, Angola, in 1992. In 1996 he worked for the fine arts ceramic company i Woodstock, Cape Town.

About his art:

Luka is extremely versatile and works with oil, pastels, watercolor and sand using his techniques on canvas, board, paper and glass. He is up to the standard to draw cartoons in newspapers, portraits etc. He works as well in different styles as landscapes, modern arts or abstract life style.
